Rowan Fashion Show
Friday, November 25, 2011
This September we hosted a Rowan Fashion Show in Bovey Tracey with special guests Martin Storey and Alison Crowther-Smith. Over 80 people packed into the beautiful upstairs cafe of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen, eager to enjoy the many fashions from Rowan, Martin and Alison. Before the catwalk show the Terrace Cafe produced a delicious meal of Thai curry and squash roast with desserts of meringues, bread and butter pudding, berries, chocolate gateaux and pear upside down cake. This was enjoyed by all. With satisfyingly full stomachs the guests watched the models showing off many of the gorgeous new Rowan Winter fashions from their latest magazine and other new books. These included 2 male models, one of whom brought along 6 beautiful Rowan designed garments that he had knitted himself, including Martin Storey's design with the Reindeer. This drew great applause and Martin was thrilled to see it knitted up. Alison Crowther-Smith showed us many exquisite samples from her Luxury Little Knits and Lacy Little Knits collections showing the tremendous versatility of Rowan Kidsilk Haze. Lily, her daughter, made a beautiful model. Then Martin Storey showed us many of the wonderful samples from his soon to be released book; Aran Knits. All our customers can't wait to knit up the new designs as soon as his book is published. I'm sure it's going to be a bestseller in the shop. We raffled off all the yarn kindly donated by Rowan and raised £130.00 for the Devon Air Ambulance. Everyone was delighted with their gifts. At last there was a chance for everyone invited to try on the garments! The guests couldn't wait to get their hands on them. All in all, an enjoyable evening was had by all. Guests travelled from as far as the Scottish highlands to attend the show and we were informed that it was well worth it. Our next fashion show is on the 1st of December with designers Debbie Bliss, Anniken Allis and Claire Crompton! This will also be held in The Devon Guild of Craftsmen from 6:00pm - 9:30pm and will follow the same format as before. We're fast selling out of tickets so get yours while you can! Please call 01626 836203 to reserve a place. Tickets cost £18 and are posted out FREE first class.
